Camp leadership

SAC's staff includes longtime campers, educators, operations leaders, Sephardic teachers, medical professionals, and counselors who know the culture of camp from the inside.

Jeffrey Owen, Director

Jeffrey Owen

Jeffrey grew up in Seattle and attended Seattle Hebrew Academy, Northwest Yeshiva High School, and Margolin Hebrew Academy before studying finance and business management at Yeshiva University.

A longtime SAC camper, Jeffrey spent 13 summers at camp before returning for five years in staff roles. He is committed to a camp environment rooted in warmth, tradition, personal growth, and meaningful experiences for campers, counselors, and families.

Jeffrey grew up in Seattle, Washington, attending Seattle Hebrew Academy, Northwest Yeshiva High School, and Margolin Hebrew Academy. He studied finance and business management at Yeshiva University before moving into Jewish education, where he currently teaches middle school general studies in New York City.

His connection to camp began in Seattle. Jeffrey spent 13 summers at Sephardic Adventure Camp as a camper, then returned for five years in staff roles. Camp helped shape his Jewish identity, leadership skills, and love for Sephardic culture and community.

Jeffrey lives in New York City with his wife, Jennifer, a therapist. He is committed to building a camp environment rooted in warmth, tradition, personal growth, and meaningful experiences for campers, counselors, and families.

Sara Avrahamy, Assistant Director

Sara Avrahamy

Sara was born and raised in Los Angeles and has grown up through SAC as a camper, CIT, counselor, head counselor, CIT director, and program director.

Now stepping into the Assistant Director role, she brings deep camp experience, a background in education, and a love for creating meaningful connections for staff and campers.

Sara Avrahamy was born and raised in Los Angeles. After graduating from Valley Torah High School, she spent a year studying in Israel at Bar Ilan University XP, then earned a bachelor's degree in education. She currently teaches math at Or Hachaim Academy.

This will be Sara's thirteenth year at SAC. She has grown up at camp as a camper, CIT, counselor, head counselor, CIT director, and program director.

As Assistant Director, Sara is excited to keep building an unforgettable camp experience for staff and campers. Raised in a vibrant Sephardic home, she feels deeply connected to her Sephardic roots and loves that SAC brings together a diverse community around shared traditions and values.

Her favorite parts of camp are creating meaningful connections, mentoring staff, and helping make each summer both fun and impactful.

Jodi Fried, Director of Communications

Jodi Fried

Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Jodi grew up partly in Portland, Oregon, and attended SAC as a camper.

Her work in Jewish communal development has included JCCs, synagogues, and other Jewish communal organizations. She is excited to return to camp and connect with campers and families.

Jodi is originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, and spent her middle and late childhood in Portland, Oregon. She attended SAC as a camper for several years.

She remembers hearing the Sephardi Birkat Hamazon for the first time at camp as a moment that opened up a new world for her. Jodi later graduated from the University of Oregon with degrees in economics and planning, public policy, and management.

Jewish communal development has long been one of Jodi's passions. She has worked with JCCs, synagogues, and other Jewish communal organizations.

Jodi lives in Ohio with her husband and children. She is excited to be back at camp and looks forward to meeting and learning from SAC campers and families.

Jordan Levy, Operations Director

Jordan Levy

Jordan is from Toronto and comes from a Moroccan family. He joined SAC in 2023 as part of the operations team.

After returning in 2024 as Assistant Operations Director overseeing the camp schedule, Jordan returns as Operations Director for 2026.

Victor Maimon

Victor grew up in Seattle and has strong family ties with Sephardic Adventure Camp.

He is studying finance at Yeshiva University after learning at Yeshivat Hakotel in Israel, and is returning for his 12th straight summer at SAC.

Hazzan Aryeh Greenberg, Sephardic Master

Hazzan Aryeh Greenberg

Hazzan Aryeh Greenberg, known at camp as Haham, was born and raised near Ezra Bessaroth Congregation in Seattle's Seward Park neighborhood.

A camper in the 1970s and a SAC staffer for more than 20 years, he teaches tefillah, pizmonim, Joha stories, Solitreo, and Sephardic learning with warmth, precision, and play.

Hazzan Aryeh Greenberg, known at camp as Haham, was born and raised three doors down from Ezra Bessaroth Congregation in Seattle's Seward Park neighborhood.

His education in Ladino culture began very early, surrounded by Sephardic grandmothers, services, and the careful teaching of Hazzan Isaac Azose and his father, Rabbi William Greenberg z'l. By age eight, he was beginning to lead early parts of the Shabbat service.

A camper in the 1970s and a SAC staff member for more than 20 years, Haham has absorbed and passed along many of SAC's strongest Sephardic camp practices. He teaches tefillah and pizmonim with a focus on mastery and precision, helping shape new generations of readers and singers.

His teaching background also includes 10 years as Haham at Sephardic Sha'are Rahamim of the Bronx, service as Hazzan of Ezra Bessaroth from 2000 to 2007, work as a Northwest Yeshiva High School Judaics teacher, and tutoring students on both coasts.

At camp, Haham is known for Joha stories, teaching Te'amim with hand gestures, teaching Rambam's Mishneh Torah through vivid mnemonic images, helping kids read and write secret messages in Solitreo, and lively games of GaGa and ping pong.

Bobby Avrahamy, Head Boys' Counselor

Bobby Avrahamy

Bobby was born and raised in Los Angeles and has been part of SAC as a camper, CIT, counselor, and now head counselor.

He loves Shabbat at camp, Color War, outdoor activities, sports, and spending time with friends and family.

This will be Bobby's tenth year at SAC. He has been a camper, CIT, counselor, and is looking forward to his second year as boys head counselor.

Bobby enjoys sports and spending time with friends and family. His favorite part of camp is Shabbat because he loves being together with everyone and the spirituality Shabbat brings.

He also enjoys Color War and outdoor activities, and is looking forward to another fun SAC season.

Avi Stuart

Avi was born and raised in Monsey, New York. After graduating from TABC, he moved to Florida for school to study psychology.

He loves the outdoors, hiking, rock climbing, camping, and the close-knit Sephardic community he has found at SAC.

This will be Avi's fourth year at SAC. He loves the outdoors, hiking, rock climbing, and camping.

Avi says one of the main reasons he keeps coming back is the close-knit Sephardic community he considers a second family, along with the relationships he has made over the last three years.

He cannot wait for another amazing year, this time as YACHAD Director.
