Recreational SACtivities
We wanted to share a few of the fun recreational activities that our campers have been participating in so far:
Hiking: The beautiful Long Beach Peninsula offers a natural playground and an abundance of great hiking opportunities. We offer hiking as a chug elective at SAC. The photo gives you a nice visual, but the wonderful fresh air here in Ocean Park cannot be captured on film.
Horseback Riding: Our campers will be heading, cabin by cabin to go horseback riding very close to our campsite. So far, several bunks have already gone and reported that it was an unbelievable experience that they thoroughly enjoyed! They learned how to lead the horse in the right direction and made sure that all the horses were in line. The campers actually went riding right through town and even rode on the beach!
Archery: Throughout the course of camp, each bunk goes to the archery program right here on our campsite. The campers learned how to shoot the bow correctly and try to hit the target. Although it is a little challenging for some, they pushed through and ended up having a wonderful experience!
Basketball: With both an outdoor half court and an indoor full court – we have hoops covered at SAC! PLUS we have staff members like Jeffrey Owen, YU Point Guard, to help campers improve their game!
Swimming: Our Girls’ bunks traveled to Astoria, Oregon earlier this week for a fun swim outing! The Astoria Aquatic Center boasts a lap pool, lazy river, “Big Red Slide” and a hot tub! And of course, there are certified lifeguards on duty at all times. It is quite a deluxe facility and we had it all to ourselves! Soo, the Boys’ bunks will head over to enjoy the experience.
Bike Riding: Bike riding through town is another fun and popular activity! Each camper is able to choose a bike to fit their liking whether it be a four wheeler or a two wheeler. So, when they ride they all feel safe and comfortable. With the invigorating ocean breeze and the gorgeous view of the beach, everyone enjoys the ride!
